While I was at the Academy of Marketing conference, last week, the lovely people of the logistics team moved all my books, folders, etc to my new office. They even put the books back on the shelves. This has got to be easiest office move I have ever had… and I had a few.
Now, I am further away from coffee and my colleagues… but closer to the students, the classrooms and the administrative team. I suppose you can’t have it all.
On a different note, I was asked to prepare a list of readings for the students starting the MSc Marketing in September. The purpose of the readings is to get students to think about current debates relevant to marketing practice – i.e,. the readings should be about the context of marketing, not about marketing in itself. This is the list that I put together, with some help from Twitter 🙂
- Return on Influence by Mark W Schaefer
- The Art of Choosing by Sheena Iyengar (and the associated TED talk)
- The Long Tail by Chris Anderson
- The World is Flat by Thomas L Friedman
- Tribes by Seth Godin
I also suggested that students read sources such as Wired or Mashable, and blogs such as {Grow} or Seth’s Blog.
What would you add to this list?
I have not read all the books mentioned on your list, but will get on to that asap. I am now reading Seth’s Linchpin and really enjoying it. Mark Schaefer’s ROI is very good indeed.

I am saving the other one you suggested for later in the programme – don’t want to give the wrong impression before they even start 🙂

I do, indeed 🙂 What must reads would you add to the list, Michael? In fact, it does not have to be a read, it could be a podcast, a video…
